Wine Pairings
at Wine Depot

Wine Depot turned a Thursday promotion into a guided introduction to food-and-wine pairing. The Bangkok bistro matched seven tapas and bruschetta selections with wines chosen to complement their flavors, from Sauvignon Blanc with avocado and prawn to Chianti Classico with tomato and basil.

The photography brief covered attractive food and the relationship between each plate and its glass. Close, colorful compositions created a coordinated image series for menus, digital promotion and social media.

FOOD AND WINE PHOTOGRAPHY IN BANGKOK

A pairing menu built around flavor.

Wine Depot began as a specialist wine shop before developing into a European bistro on Bangkok’s Soi 22. Its managing partner brought years of experience in wine importing and distribution, building a collection of more than 140 labels from around the world. The shelves combined bottles from France, Italy and Spain with selections from Central and South America, the United States, Australia and New Zealand.

That retail foundation gave the restaurant an unusually strong point of view. Wine shaped the entire dining experience. As Wine Depot expanded, the kitchen added French, Italian and pan-European dishes, Thai favorites and a notable dessert menu. Tapas and bruschetta became a natural bridge between the wine shop and the bistro.

For this promotion, the restaurant created seven accessible pairings that helped guests explore how wine changes the experience of a dish. Avocado and prawn were matched with Sauvignon Blanc. Smoked salmon accompanied Brocard Bourgogne Aligoté. Fine de Claire oysters were served with Bottega Prosecco Brut. Each combination needed an inviting image that also fit the full series.

The photography had two jobs. It needed to capture the gloss of the prawn, the freshness of tomato and basil and the delicate surface of the oysters. It also needed to make the wine integral to the composition. Each glass was positioned to show how it related to the food. Bright, accurate color kept the food appetizing. Close framing made every plate immediately understandable.

Matching every plate to the right glass.

The completed series covered a broad range of flavors. The Saucisson and Dijon mustard bruschetta was paired with Stoneweaver Marlborough organic Pinot Noir. Paris ham and Emmental cheese accompanied La Petite Lune Bordeaux. Traditional tomato and basil bruschetta was matched with Berardo Chianti Classico Riserva. The brighter pairings included avocado and prawn with Sauvignon Blanc and a Thai-style spicy larb salmon bruschetta with Clair de Rose Les Jamelles Languedoc rosé.

Oysters and Prosecco added a distinctly celebratory image to the set. The clean white shells, pale sparkling wine and warm wood created visual contrast while keeping the food dominant. The opening platter photograph brought several bruschetta together with multiple glasses. It introduced the promotion and made the scale of the selection clear at a glance.

Why the series works

Photographing the pairings as a coordinated group gave Wine Depot a complete set of individual dish shots, hero images and promotional material. The restaurant gained close-ups for social posts and a consistent visual language for printed and digital menus. Guests could see the character of each pairing before reading the full description.

The styling respected the bistro setting. The warm tabletop, wine glasses and softly visible bottle display made the setting clearly Wine Depot. Strong diagonal lines added energy to selected compositions. A table edge and a horizon do different jobs in a composition. Some diagonals add energy, while others simply make the frame look crooked. We kept the intentional angles and carefully leveled the edges that needed to feel stable. The plates and glasses remain visually grounded, and the food stays dominant.

The original promotion sat within a larger schedule of Wine Depot offers, including tapas nights, wine specials, pizza evenings and set meals. This case study focuses on the pairing menu because it shows how a focused photography assignment can turn a limited-time offer into a reusable marketing library. Every image communicates a specific choice. The complete set presents Wine Depot as an approachable bistro and a serious destination for wine.
